For non-residents in Portugal, purchased homes were €2,250 more expensive per square metre, being the area of the country where the greatest differences in transaction values between residents and non-residents can be seen. Until September 2022, the average difference, per square metre, was 1.446€. 

These are data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), which prove the differences in the market for buyers with tax domicile abroad, whose prices are higher - 2,250€ per square metre. On the contrary, for purchasers with tax domicile in Portugal, the average price is below 2€, at 1,415€.

For non-residents, this difference is 50% higher than for residents, at €835, and it is in Lisbon that the difference is greater, at €1,651 per square metre, or 45% more. 

The highest values paid by foreigners are found in the municipalities of Lisbon, CascaisOeiras and Porto.
