A partnership to make employees the main cybersecurity agent of organizations
NTT DATA, a global business and technology consultancy that reinvents and transforms organizations through innovation, and OutThink, a global leader in human risk management solutions, have just established a partnership to make employees the main cybersecurity agent of organizations. The agreement starts in Portuguese territory and aims at its progressive enlargement to other European countries, according to a communication sent to SUPERCASA Notícias.

Recent data (ICO - Information Commissioner's Office1) reveals that 90% of data breaches in organizations are caused by human error; 71% of identified malware is spread by employees and 84% of cyber-attacks begin with social engineering initiatives, which take advantage of people's naivety and routine to carry out attacks. These indicators reveal the importance of turning the organizations' employees into the main cybersecurity agent to reduce the volume and severity of attacks.

OutThink provides a human risk management platform, which enables organizations to identify the level of cyber risk of employees, based on their responsibilities and daily work. This capability offers institutions the ability to segment risk profiles, as well as have a holistic and integrated view of the skills and security needs of the entire organization.

This practice makes it possible to adapt the security level of the institutions, according to the knowledge and responsibilities of each employee, as well as to provide content and training adapted to the profile of each one and the level of risk that each employee represents to the organization. By facilitating the individualization and customization of training content, organizations abandon the one-size-fits-all model, which has proven ineffective in cybersecurity, while at the same time they manage to increase collective cybersecurity awareness, reducing bad practices and lowering risk.

Mauro Almeida, Head of Cybersecurity at NTT DATA Portugal, reveals he is "very pleased to announce this partnership with OutThink, which is a recognized cybersecurity service provider with a very innovative approach to raising awareness and training employees on these issues. It uses gamification and social experimentation features to promote knowledge and people engagement. We believe that, with this partnership, we have greatly enriched our value proposition and our ability to transform the collective awareness and knowledge of organizations in terms of cybersecurity.

For his part, Flavius Plesu, Founder and CEO of OutThink, says "As a former CISO, I believe that security awareness has to align with employee behavior, business and security goals of organizations. We offer clients a state-of-the-art security awareness platform to effectively transform people into human sensors for cybersecurity, empowering them to become the organization's most important defense mechanism. To be successful in any market, it is critical to align with expert partners locally, who know both the technology and the needs of local customers. We are delighted to establish this partnership with NTT DATA Portugal, which will allow us to expand our activity in the Portuguese market and progressively to other European countries."
