Covid 19: What changes as of today?
From 10 pm today, those who have a negative test for Covid 19 can go back to frequenting bars and discos. The reopening of the spaces belongs to the most recent update of the measures to combat the pandemic in Portugal that are now lighter.

Teleworking is no longer mandatory on Saturday, although it is still recommended in situations where it is possible.

Find out what changes in detail:

Contact with positive cases at work
Starting Saturday, telecommuting is now recommended. With the return, contact with a positive case in the workplace will no longer be considered risky. Measures regarding isolation, announced for schools, will be extended to workplaces.

Only people who test positive or cohabitants will need to isolate themselves.

People who received a booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine more than 14 days ago are exempt from isolation.

Negative test or 3rd dose of the vaccine to enter bars
Bars and nightclubs, which have been closed since December 25, are allowed to open this Friday from 10 pm. To enter these venues, patrons must show a negative Covid-19 test, a certificate of recovery, or proof of vaccination with the booster dose more than 14 days ago.

All people who have had the booster dose for more than two weeks will no longer have to be tested. The measure serves as an incentive to vaccinate those who are in a position to receive the booster dose.

Regarding tests, discos and bars accept PCR tests made less than 72 hours ago, rapid tests made in pharmacies or laboratories in the last 48 hours, or self-tests monitored by an employee at the entrance of the establishment, as already happens in events and cultural shows, the customers will have to take the test.

Prohibition of alcohol consumption on public roads
In the Council of Ministers on January 6, the Government decided to continue the prohibition of drinking alcoholic beverages on public roads. The restriction does not cover duly licensed bars and outdoor dining establishments.

In the resolution published in the Diário da República it is possible to read that esplanades and "open terraces of restaurants and similar establishments duly licensed for that purpose" are excepted.

Border Restrictions
Despite the easing of measures on national territory, border restrictions continue. Until February 9, passengers arriving in Portugal will still be required to present a negative test or certificate of recovery. The restriction applies to all flights arriving in Portugal.
