The construction and requalification of social housing, by the Municipality of Matosinhos in cooperation with MatosinhosHabit foresees an investment of 85 million euros.
This social housing investment, in rental, is assured by the municipal rental support program, focused on housing promoted by the municipality, with a forecast of 57.2 million euros invested, adding 5 million euros, in the Municipal Rental Support Program. Regarding privately promoted housing, there will be an investment of 22.8 million euros. The Local Housing Strategy intends to rehabilitate 400 dwellings and build 384 new dwellings, according to the supported rental regime.
"The political ambition and the municipal strategy, in terms of housing, is not restricted to the Local Housing Strategy. The perspective is broader and is framed within the municipal development model, multidimensional and pursues objectives of opening opportunities to all citizens, of valuing people and local identity, of financial autarchic management, with an environmentally sustainable purpose, of promoting well-being and quality of life", declared Manuela Álvares, president of the Board of Directors of MatosinhosHabit EM.
The reinforcement of the municipality's intervention is necessary in several issues such as, the promotion of access to housing and social cohesion, captivating and stabilizing residents, qualifying the municipal housing stock, providing qualification and territorial cohesion and consolidating the municipal territorial model.
According to the municipality, rehabilitation is planned for 48 non-municipal dwellings.
According to the objectives of the Local Housing Strategy, Manuela Álvares says, "we highlight, in the year 2022, the rehabilitation of 80 municipal dwellings for re-housing, the acquisition of 2 buildings for the creation of 105 social dwellings (Flor do Infesta) and the beginning of the rehabilitation process, as well as the opening of the procedure for the rehabilitation of the 5 municipal housing developments mentioned above (Recarei, Custió, Ponte do Carro, Seixo II and Chouso)".
