The family IMI is a help to the family household, when they have dependents. Some municipalities grant reductions to relieve the budget, but how do we know if we are entitled? And what to do?
As mentioned above, it is a discount on the Municipal Property Tax, and it will depend on how many children you have in your care, being a fixed deduction.
According to the municipalities, the deduction starts at €20 for the first child and doubles for the second, however, this discount can reach €70 from the third dependent - dependents up to 25 years old who are not working.
In order to take advantage of the reduction in IMI, you first need to check whether your municipality applies the Family IMI, by consulting the Finance portal.
It is also important to point out that the property has to be registered as the permanent home of the entire household, so that Finance can attribute the IMI reduction, everything being done automatically.
