The exemption from IMT and Stamp Duty in the purchase of first own and permanent housing, by young people up to 35 years, was approved in a decree-law this Tuesday, June 25, after the validation of the Assembly of the Republic.
Thus, the Council of Ministers on Tuesday gave the green light to "a partial exemption in the amount above 316 thousand euros and up to 633 thousand euros" for young people who acquire a property as first housing.
According to the decree, the measure will come into force as of August 1, "accompanied by a compensation mechanism for municipalities, in order to cover the loss of tax revenue", as indicated by the Government.
