Porto City Hall has already confirmed that one of its goals, for the housing area, is to respond to the housing crisis, along with the package that the Government approved yesterday, on the 16th of February. Through their own mechanisms and strategies, there are several municipalities with this type of initiative, trying to face the difficulties felt by each one of the inhabitants who are looking for a house or are faced with housing expenses.

Pedro Baganha, councilman of the municipality in charge of Housing, has already publicly stated that the supply available in Porto is scarce for the demand and the goal is to effectively promote measures that adjust this reality, stating that it is "essential to have a policy oriented towards the middle class and towards the affordable rent market", through "concrete measures"

The Oporto municipality has already prepared a set of measures to be applied, such as: incentives to private development, using the Municipal Master Plan (PDM); the Porto with Sense Programme, which promotes public consultations with a view to the rental of private properties in an affordable rent regime; rehabilitations of municipal properties; the creation of the Affordable Housing Desk and rent support in the free rental market, to be applied through Porto Solidarity - Municipal Social Emergency Fund.
