October 1 is the beginning of a phase of energy increases for Portuguese families, but what changes?
Portuguese families and small businesses can expect an average increase in their gas and electricity bills of €40, all of which was predicted by the demoralisers when they said they would adjust the rates on energy tariffs.
Both on the regulated and liberalised markets, gas and electricity are expected to increase, starting on the first day of October.
On the liberalised market, natural gas may result in increases of between €5 and €10, depending on the supplier, and these prices are expected to continue until the end of the year.
For those in the regulated market, the increases in natural gas will be €3.9, one of the largest increases in recent years.
The government has issued the possibility of changing the energy market regime, and in the free market, prices will be higher.
Electricity in the regulated market will suffer an increase of 5 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), a value of 3% approximately.
