IMI: The Tax Authorities sent four million collection notes
An official source from the AT pointed out that in the 4,009,718 IMI collection notes sent out (for the tax for 2021), there are 895,969 with a value of less than 100 euros and therefore a single payment, during the month of May; 2,434,314 with a value of 100 euros or more and less than 500 euros; and 679,435 over 500 euros.

These values are important since they establish the number of installments that each owner has to pay the IMI, which is levied on urban buildings (built-up) and land for construction and rural buildings.

In this sense, the amount of IMI is split into two or three installments when it exceeds 100 or 500 euros, respectively, and these are paid in May and November or in May, August and November.

The rules in force since 2019 make it possible, however, for a taxpayer with a bill of more than 100 euros to pay the entire tax in May, waiving the installment system.

Last year there were 559,761 owners who opted for full payment in May.

According to AT statistics, IMI revenue last year amounted to 1,503 million euros. A total of 4,031,117 collection notes were sent out that year, including 2,431,731 between 100 and 500 euros and 678,726 above 500 euros.
