According to data released on Tuesday by the National Statistics
Institute (INE), in 2021, workers in foreign companies with subsidiaries
in Portugal reached salaries higher than 1,500€, 42.7% more than those
in national companies.
These data also reveal that apparent
labor productivity reached more than 69.7% when compared to that
recorded in Portugal, and that in 2021, foreign subsidiaries employed
more than 400 thousand people in Portugal. In other words, this results
in an average of 60 people per branch, a number that is higher than the
reality of national companies.
This confirms an attractive
scenario for foreign companies which, according to these statistics, had
a growing turnover until last year of about 17.7% and an export volume
of goods that reached 24.1 billion euros.
