According to the publication, the government had already announced that the parishes would receive 4.3 million euros, but the applications submitted by the Parish Union of Prazins Santo Tirso and Corvite, in the municipality of Guimarães, and the Parish of Pampilhosa, in the municipality of Mealhada, were not analysed. Once the order was amended to include these two applications, it was decreed that the two parishes will receive a total of 6,748 euros to help pay for Covid-19 expenses throughout 2020 . Guimarães will receive 1,662 euros, while Mealhada will receive 5,086 euros. There was also another oversight involving the allocation of 866 euros to the parish of Cabril, in the municipality of Montalegre, which should have gone to the parish of Cabril, in the municipality of Castro Daire. The decree-law published on 1 February reads: it appears, however, that due to an error on the part of the bodies responsible for analysing applications under the Supporting Parishes Programme, financial support to the value of 865.92 euros was wrongly proposed to the parish of Cabril, in the municipality of Montalegre, instead of the parish of Cabril, in the municipality of Castro Daire, and, on the other hand, the applications submitted by the União das Freguesisas de Prazins Santo Tirso e Corvite, in the municipality of Guimarães, with eligible support of 1. 662 euros, and by the parish of Pampilhosa, in the municipality of Mealhada, with eligible support totalling 5,086 euros. According to the municipality, seven hectares of land have already been planted with species including stone pines, birches, oaks, alders and poplars, and are designed to provide infrastructure such as areas for relaxation and contemplation, street furniture, circulation routes and pedestrian access. The aim of this park is to contribute to climate mitigation in the town, creating comfort for the inhabitants of the area where the space is being designed. Paulo Figueiredo, Mayor of Moimenta , emphasises: were going to give green life to this whole area, which at the moment is uncharacteristic and has no landscape setting within the urban fabric, but which with the planting of various tree species, which has already been characterised, is beginning to come to life. The park will be called Insula Natura and will have areas of shade, through deciduous and evergreen trees, which will create different scenic effects throughout the year, through the colour of the foliage, the trunk and the flower they will take on in the different seasons. And with regard to climate mitigation, Paulo Figueiro points out that the park will create a climate with an identity of the surrounding urbanised space (stadium, sports pavilion, schools, some urban areas and industrial units), as well as an atmospheric ambience that is generally more favourable from a bioclimatic point of view, he adds. Source: Freepik Author: Redaction The 5th progress report on the monitoring of the Long-Term Strategy for the Renovation of Buildings (ELPRE) found a decrease in primary energy consumption of around 4.2% in the buildings sector , with CO2 emissions falling to 44.1% by November. ELPRE estimates that the percentage of buildings renovated to include energy efficiency strategies is close to 2% compared to 2018. Although the buildings sector is progressing along a path that favours decarbonization, by reducing CO2 emissions and primary energy consumption, ADENE is warning of the need to step up investment in energy renovation, making it a key factor in achieving the goals set for 2050. In order to achieve these goals, ELPRE recommends implementing measures to improve the information available about the building stock and strengthening the creation of more financial mechanisms and tax benefits for renovation and the creation of a specific action plan for the rehabilitation of buildings eligible for these interventions. Source: Freepik Author: Redaction REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais , the operator of Portugals electricity and natural gas transmission networks, and Atlante, the NHOA Group company dedicated to fast and ultra-fast charging for electric vehicles , signed a Memorandum of Understanding today, February 1, for the development of five projects in Portugal using the speed-E grid connection solution, developed and patented by REN, at selected Atlante fast charging stations, according to a statement sent to SUPERCASA Notícias. Speed-E is an innovative mobility solution that allows electric vehicles to be charged directly from the electricity transmission network , i.e. from Very High Voltage lines. By allowing direct connection to the transmission network, in addition to providing energy for charging electric vehicles , the solution paves the way for the expansion of charging infrastructures to locations where it is present. In Portugal, this represents an extension of approximately 9,000 km. The solution guarantees the simultaneous supply of energy to several fast and/or ultra-fast chargers, while its modular architecture also allows for the customization and progressive scalability of projects, keeping pace with customers energy requirements and the ever-increasing penetration of electric vehicles. The partnership between REN and Atlante will result in the worlds first fast charging stations for electric vehicles powered directly by very high voltage transmission lines. This demonstrates Atlantes commitment to implementing the most advanced technological solutions , offering electric vehicle users a charging experience without limits, while mitigating the growing global demand for energy. For João Faria Conceição, RENs COO, this partnership reflects RENs ability to develop solutions for the energy transition, contributing positively to the decarbonization of society. Atlante is an obvious partner for speed-E in Portugal, not only for its vast experience in the charging sector but also for recognizing, from the outset, the strategic potential of this innovative tool to promote faster and safer charging of electric vehicles, mitigating future challenges related to a greater need for energy availability. Source: Freepik Author: Redaction Despite continuing to move in the direction of decarbonization , the buildings sector is still responsible for 33% of final energy consumption and around 18% of total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). In this sense, and according to ADENE - Agência para a Energia, it is necessary to continue to insist on strategies to combat GHG emissions, as well as investment in energy rehabilitation , with a view to achieving all the goals set for 2050. These targets are included in the 5th progress report of the coordination group for the Long-Term Strategy for Building Renovation (ELPRE), approved by the government and in force since February 2021. According to ADENE: This path towards decarbonization is the result of the current energy mix and some efforts in terms of energy rehabilitation of the national building stock. The results obtained may undergo some adjustments in the coming years as they have been affected by a number of factors, including changes in consumption patterns due to the Covid-19 pandemic, upstream changes in energy production, the end of the use of coal in the electricity generation system and widespread increases in energy prices, also a consequence of the war in Ukraine. Based on the data in the report, the organization mentions that primary energy consumption in the buildings sector has already fallen to around 4.2% , with CO2 emissions down to 44.1%. On the other hand, the percentage of renovated buildings will be close to only 2% compared to 2018 . Objectives and targets set by ELPRE According to ELPREs report, there are 9 objectives to be achieved by 2050, including a 34% reduction in primary energy consumption, a 63% increase in local renewable energy production and a 77% reduction in GHG emissions. To achieve these goals, some of the following measures must be implemented: Creation of an action plan to implement the actions envisaged in the ELPRE action axes under preparation; Creation of a concrete action plan for the rehabilitation of the public administrations housing stock; Strengthening and creating more financial mechanisms and tax benefits for renovation and energy efficiency; Improving the information available on the building stock. Source: Freepik Author: Redaction Last Thursday, January 18, the government presented new measures to combat the drought in the Algarve and Alentejo regions , following the 18th meeting of the Permanent Commission for the Prevention, Monitoring and Follow-up of the Effects of Drought. The situation in these two locations is critical, not only for the inhabitants of the region who consume the water , but also for agricultural producers who have seen their production damaged. The decisions will therefore apply to public and agricultural supplies, but also to tourism . With regard to public supplies, it has been decided to reduce urban consumption in the region by 15% compared to the same period last year. In agricultural supply , there should be a 25% reduction in consumption , which includes 50% of the volume licensed for irrigation in the Sotavento hydro-agricultural perimeter. In addition to this, the volume used for irrigation from the Funcho reservoir will be reduced by around 40% and groundwater abstraction by up to 15% as a rule. As far as tourism is concerned, consumption in tourist resorts will be reduced by up to 15% , the same percentage also applying to groundwater abstraction. Farmers argue that the crisis was caused by the government The National Confederation of Agriculture (CNA) points to successive governments as the main culprits for the lack of water in the two southern regions of the country, leaving some suggestions for mitigating the problem, including how to combat production losses. The crisis plaguing the Algarve (and the Alentejo), such as the lack of water, materializes the absence of work and strategic policy that prioritizes the populations and is especially serious in a region where this situation was predicted decades ago. The crisis in the south of the country has its own culprits: the political choices of successive governments , argues the CNA. At the root of these accusations is the failure to implement the National Irrigation Plan , as well as the cuts stipulated for supply, which, in the Confederations opinion, involved the usual tricks . As a result, a public hearing has been proposed in various forums, including the Permanent Commission for the Prevention, Monitoring and Follow-up of the Effects of Drought. Source: SUPERCASA Author: Redaction The Algarve is one of Portugals most sought-after destinations when it comes to vacations and real estate investment in higher segments, and is increasingly a dynamic region with great life opportunities to offer its inhabitants. Proof of this is the widespread demand for skilled labor in the hotel and tourism areas. With the start of the high season in mid-May, several companies are opening the year looking for new employees , as is the case at Pine Cliffs Resort , which has vacancies for 270 workers in various positions. The human resources director, Nicole Guerreiro, says that the resort is looking for dynamic profiles who, above all , show a desire to learn and grow , but she would not say what the expected salary range is for future employees. To promote this recruitment drive, the Pine Cliffs Resort will open its doors next Tuesday, January 30, for an open day so that candidates can get to know the teams and the space: our open day will be from 10h00 to 16h00. First of all, well give a presentation of the resort with testimonies from employees , confirms the director. Organized into groups by area of interest, the managers will give the candidates a tour of the resort, which will end with the respective interviews . According to the human resources director, whats at stake is an attractive benefits package , both for permanent and fixed-term workers, and a training and development plan for each area of work . The areas for which the resort is hiring are diverse, but most are linked to more operational areas , such as cooks, waiters, warehouse workers, receptionists, baggage handlers, room attendants, childrens monitors and beach monitors. The fact that Pine Cliffs belongs to a group that owns other properties in Portugal gives candidates a greater opportunity for career development and professional development , concludes Nicole Guerreiro.
