Legislatives 2022: Opinion on the vote of voters in isolation has already been sent by the PGR
Official source from the PGR revealed that "the Advisory Council of the Attorney General's Office approved the opinion requested, on January 5, by the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the same was delivered to the consulting entity that has the power to decide on its disclosure and other sequence".

The communication on the opinion is now in the hands of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which had scheduled for 7 pm yesterday, a press conference on this subject with the minister Francisca Van Dunem, the Assistant Secretary of State and Internal Affairs, Antero Luís, and the Director-General of Health, Graça Freitas. However, it was postponed.

More than an hour after the MAI press officers warned journalists that the press conference had been postponed because the opinion of the Advisory Council of the PGR had not arrived.

According to a source from MAI, the Advisory Council of the OPG met on Tuesday and deliberated on the opinion, however, the document had not yet reached the Government.

In this sense, the new press conference takes place today at 1pm.

The Government has asked the advisory council of the Attorney General's Office for an opinion on whether the isolation within the Covid-19 framework prevents the exercise of voting rights or whether it could be suspended for this purpose.

On January 10, the Minister of Internal Administration informed that the urgent opinion requested by the Government to the Attorney General "deals with two specific dimensions": "how to reconcile constitutional rights that are in conflict here, on the one hand, the right to suffrage, then, on the other hand, the protection of public health.

He also added "a second dimension: knowing whether or not the exercise of the right that has preponderance may have some limitations and, if so, which ones".

The Government is therefore waiting for this opinion in order to take "the appropriate initiatives" in the legislative elections to be held on January 30th.
