When a project combines the best location in the city with a Pritzker Prize (the Nobel Prize of architecture), the result can only be unique. Eduardo Souto de Moura designs the residential building that will change the face of Cais da Fonte Nova, in Aveiro, uniting the estuary, green space and evoking the city’s Art Nouveau heritage in the colour palette. ’We were concerned that the areas correspond to the quality of the materials and vice versa. It is preferable to have a generous 2 bedroom flat than a 3 bedroom flat where people don’t have space. The balcony has become a place of conviviality. It was a collective feeling that since the pandemic, balconies have gained immense importance, so we took it into consideration. Today kitchens are so beautiful that they are almost more beautiful than living room furniture. That’s why the kitchens became open, allowing you to be in the kitchen and see the view. ’ And he says, without hesitation, ’this is a place where I would like to live!’ Cit. Arq.
