Old House in Monção e Troviscoso, Monção

80.000 €
Useful area 114 m² Land 1.300 m² E.C.: In evaluation
Land with ruin with feasibility for restoration (images). Excellent location. Situated right on the border with Spain, and separated by the beautiful Minho river, the town of Monção notes human occupation since ancient times, being the foundation of the town shrouded in legend and on which still left plenty of questions. With the formation of the Portuguese kingdom, Monção became an important defensive point, by proximity to the spanish border, as can be seen from what remains of the walls of the castle. In fact, throughout the middle ages and at later times, Monção was the site of various struggles, oddly enough many of them having as protagonists women, as is the case of Deu-La-Deu Martins, D. Mariana de Lencastre Countess of Castelo Melhor and the one of Helena Peres. One of the most famous places of the town is the spa, integrated next to the Minho river, in a beautiful wooded lot set, and its waters are particularly suitable for the treatment of rheumatism, bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infections. When it comes to gastronomy, Monção stands out for roast lamb in the oven, saffron risotto and the sausage of Lordelo, and Deu-La-Deu buns and ’bellies of nun’, when it comes to sweets. But Monção is also known by Alvarinho wine, this caste being the noblest of varieties of grapes of the vinho verde demarcated region. The Alvarinho is produced only in the sub-region of Monção, in little fertile and granitic slope, half having exactly been this region that Portugal exported the first wine to England. #ref:IM2342
