A pequena Vila de Odemira é sede do maior concelho do País, que tem uma área de 1720,25 km2 e conta atualmente com perto de 30 mil habitantes (dados provisórios Censos 2021). Fundado em 1256, o concelho de Odemira, tem no seu território uma grande diversidade paisagística, estendendo-se entre a planície, a serra e o mar. É na faixa interior deste concelho que está localizada a maior mancha florestal do país, onde predomina o sobreiro, a azinheira e o eucalipto.
