Repsol will invest more than 18 million euros in the polyol plant at its Tarragona Industrial Complex to expand its range of high-quality Alcupol® polymeric products. This is a clear bet by the multi-energy company to meet the needs of customers in the flexible polyurethane industry, especially in products for rest, comfort and automotive applications, such as mattresses, furniture and seats. This reinforcement will allow maximizing the global production capacity of higher added value, according to a statement sent to SUPERCASA Notícias.
Most of the investment will go towards the modification of the current polymer polyols plant, with the installation of a second reactor on the production line. Construction already began last April and start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023.
In addition, the plant will have a new technology, developed by scientists at the Repsol Technology Lab, which will allow the optimization of the process, improve the performance and the tensile and hardness properties of the foams, meeting the requirements of premium applications.
